LUNCHEON HONORS RONNIE MCQUAID, COMMISSIONER, COMMUNITY LEADER, ADVOCATE, VOLUNTEER

Ronnie McQuaidOn March 24, 11:30 a.m.-1:00 p.m., Creative 360 will host a Yes We Can! luncheon honoring  Ronnie McQuaid (87). Take a break from your day to enjoy a catered luncheon, and pay tribute to this remarkable woman who continues to contribute so much to the community. Ronnie McQuaid grew up on a farm in St. Louis. She and her husband Jack moved to Midland, and when her three children were older, she began taking classes one-at-a-time at SVSU. After 11 years, she graduated with a degree in psychology and sociology. She says it is the best thing she ever did.

A woman of deep faith with a passion for justice, she believes that if a community is to be healthy, one must serve. Everyone must pull together to make sure all the needs in the community are met. She became known for speaking for those who have no voice.

Ronnie spent 32 years as a Midland County Commission and more than 60 years as a realtor. A charter member of Blessed Sacrament Church, she served on the boards of Midland-Gladwin Community Health, Catholic Family Services, The Family Action Committee and more. She served on the Board of Realtors on the national, state and city levels and was president of the boards of Midland Area Homes and Volunteers for Recycling. Ronnie served on the Governor’s Substance Abuse Commission and was influential in making the Juvenile Care Center a reality.

Lunch is catered by NADA and includes Asian Orange Salad, Honey Sriracha Chicken, Cilantro Jasmine Rice, House Made Eggrolls, Lemon Pound Cake

About Yes We Can!

Yes We Can! is a Creative 360 program designed to honor and celebrate artists, scholars, scientists and community leaders who are 80 and above from across the Great Lakes Bay Region in a way that respects their knowledge and taps into their legacy of creativity. People of all ages enjoy the opportunity to engage with this dynamic group through their art, artist talks, luncheon soirees and more.

Thanks to the generous sponsorship of The Barstow Foundation, Gavin & Associates, NADA Northwood University, Space Studios and Balanced Living Chiropractic, the 2017 program is just as dynamic and diverse as the previous three seasons. This year’s Yes We Can! schedule runs January through May and includes a total of eight luncheon soirees, six Tuesday Tributes and a tea to honor mothers.

May 5:  Edward & Elyse Rogers, community & business leaders, philanthropists, volunteers
