• She is a founding member and initial president of Michigan Dance Association; co-author of the books Creating YES! and Essential Goals and Objectives for Dance.
• In 2007, Linda Z. Smith received national recognition for her work in co-founding Creative Spirit Center . Martha Stewart and Martha Stewart Living named Smith one of 11 "Dreamers into Doers," exceptional women who won a national contest for their ability to make their dreams into reality.”

• Cynthia won Midland's Outstanding Business Person of the Year in 1997, partially for the time and energy she put into the Artwalk and DiversityWalk held that year.
• Cynthia is also an award-winning artist and former Northwood Gallery director whose works have been exhibited throughout Michigan.
• Cynthia received her bachelor's degree from Vermont College of Norwich University.
