Registration is closed for this event. Come write a haiku with us, and learn about “tanka,” the slightly longer Japanese poem form. Participants will look at the vitality of spring bustin’ out all over, as well as at its symbolic meaning within us. We will then “paint” our insights with the brush strokes of words. The focus of this workshop will be on imagery; how it can express feeling, and evoke wonder, surprise and delight. No prior writing experience needed. Just bring your senses and an openness to experiencing and connecting with nature – and human nature – in a fresh way. Jennifer is the author of a book of poems, and a book of creative nonfiction. Laz is a published poet and is one of the twin brothers in the nationally-known children’s folk music duo, Gemini.
Tuesday, April 25 / 7:00 – 9:00 pm / $10 / $7 students (with ID)
“For days after [the haiku workshop] I saw nature in a new light. Composing in my head some short thoughts about what I was seeing.” ~ Sharon, student from Jen & Laz’s fall Haiku Workshop at C360.
