FAQs
Creative 360
What is Creative 360?
Creative 360 is an environment where creativity, the arts, and wellness are honored and celebrated. It is a building in Midland, MI designed by Alden Dow, former Architect Laureate of Michigan. Creative 360 is also an accommodation for new ideas, a space for the reconciliation of opposites, and a safe place to try something new.
Why did you change your name from Creative Spirit Center?
As Creative Spirit Center we were often misunderstood to be a church or to be affiliated with a religious group. This is not the case. In order to be clear about our mission and identity, we changed our name.
What do you have to offer me?
Classes, concerts, art exhibits, new ideas, sharing with open-hearted people.
I have never tried yoga and I'm not too flexible. Am I still welcome to try?
Certainly. We have classes designed for various levels of skill and experience. Try Gentle Yoga for Seniors or Renewal Yoga.
What about attending just one class, to see if I like it?
This is possible if you make advance arrangements with the instructor.
What does it mean to be a member of Creative 360?
For a membership fee of $35 per year for an individual, or $50 per year for a family, you receive the following benefits:
• reduced class fees
• recognition on our Web site
• acknowledgment at our Annual Meeting
• invitations to special events
• meet-the-artist opportunities
• one free rental with a yearly non-profit group membership
• the ongoing invitation to help map the future development of Creative 360 through participation in surveys, conversations, and collaborations.
We are certainly open to your suggestions concerning what other benefits you would like to receive as a member. Please call upon Creative 360 to support your expression of creativity and that of the larger community. Check the Membership page for more info.
Does Creative 360 need financial support?
Like most non-profit organizations, we have a small budget, and rely a great deal on volunteers and community financial support. We earn revenue through memberships, class/event fees, sale of art, and space rentals.
The majority of our support comes from Foundation grants and generous gifts from community supporters.
In order to provide requested new programming and to continue offering opportunities for all ages where creativity is fostered, Creative 360 welcomes donations in any amount. Gifts of cash, yearly pledges, gifts of securities, or bequests are all needed. For major gifts and bequests, the Center's Endowment Fund provides assurance that each gift will be used in the way intended by the giver. Click here for ways to give.
Does Creative 360 need donations of goods?
In order for us to benefit from in-kind donations, our staff needs to confirm that the donation can be used to enhance our programming, facilities or services. Storage space here is limited and, while an item may have value, it may not be appropriate for our needs. Please contact Colleen Reed at creed@becreative360.org or 989-837-1885 to discuss in-kind donations prior to delivery.
Is your facility wheelchair accessible and ADA compliant?
Yes.
Can I register for classes on your Website?
Yes, you can. You can also phone 989-837-1885, drop in at 1517 Bayliss Street in Midland or E-mail Us.
I would like to teach at Creative 360. What qualifications are required?
The main qualification is your proven ability to teach a class that community members have requested. Check the Invitation to Instruct page for more information and updated openings for teachers.
How do I submit an idea that I have for a Creative 360 program or event?
Click here to email a suggestion. Your suggestion will be reviewed by our Program Committee and added to the schedule as resources and community interest permit.
Do you have programs and events for toddlers?
The minimum age for programs held at the Bayliss location is 3 years. We also offer ArtStart, a 1-hour interrelated arts program designed for preschool classrooms. Contact us to request an ArtStart program at your preschool.
Can we rent your facility for a company party?
Certainly. See our Facility Rentals page.
How many people can your facility accommodate?
Over 200. Check Facility Rentals for details by room.
Are you open evenings and weekends?
Sometimes. Check for details in the current class and event schedule.
I am an artist and would love to show my work. What is the procedure for setting up an exhibit in your Gallery?
Contact Colleen Reed, Program Coordinator. Your interest will be communicated to our Gallery Committee. Usually, the Gallery space is committed about a year in advance.
Is that an Alden B. Dow building that you are in? Was it a church?
Yes. Mr. Dow designed the building originally for the Salvation Army Midland headquarters and since 2004 has been the home of Creative 360. When we moved in we renovated the building to accommodate the activities it is now used for -- classes, art exhibits, and meetings.
