Camp program hours: 9 am - 5 pm Courtesy drop-off 8:30 – 9:00 am and pick-up from 5:00 - 5:30 pm
Full day tuition: $175 per week
Rainbow Parfait Explosion
It’s all about art! But not only visual art—you’ll be exploring art of all kinds: handmade paper, candles and stamps, macramé and papier-mâché. Try writing a poem in a different way, fold origami, or carve a sculpture out of soap. Get in touch with a different decade with Tie-dye. Make a collage and draw a picture! Get your heart racing with movement. Explore your dramatic side with theatre. And keep a journal of all the days’ activities. On the last day artwork will be displayed in the gallery and participants are encouraged to invite family and friends. Bring a lunch. Snacks are provided. Ages 6 – 12. With Emma Johnson. Magic Trunk Theater Learn all it takes to put on a play! Here you'll be a part of a theatrical production from start to finish. You'll be involved in every part of the process, from writing the script to making stage sets to acting in a sharing for family and friends! Create a unique costume. Decide what kind of setting you want your characters to live in. What will they do? Now's your chance to be creative! Bring a lunch. Snacks provided. Ages 7 – 14. with Emma Johnson. Arts & Crafts It! Explore all kinds of arts and crafts! Create something new from an old piece of furniture, a shirt, or anything else you might have lying around the house. Make drawings with sand and chalk! Explore mosaics and then make some colorful Shrinky Dinks! Take a disposable camera and take some pictures when we go on a "picture hunt." I Love to Sing!
Sing your heart out in this ½ day camp. Includes skill-building, fun, and a little of the unexpected. If music is your favorite class all year long, this camp is for you. Students wishing to improve their choral singing skills will find this mid-summer refresher invaluable. You will practice sight-singing, rhythm, and listening skills, and learn tips for healthy voice production. Make and keep a rhythm instrument of your choice. Lights! Camera! Animation!
Don’t get enough of Disney movies? Find yourself a fan of Sponge Bob? Want to make a movie with characters and places that can’t exist in real life? If you’re always up for using your imagination, then this class is for you! You’ll write a story, collaborating with your fellow campers. You’ll animate your own flipbook as a part of a larger story. You’ll go home on Friday with a DVD that includes all animations created in the class, which will add up to the whole story you came up with as a group. The final project will also be uploaded to the web so you can share with all your friends and family—and the world! In short — Learn how to animate, be part of a bigger project, and bring home a DVD you can play to remember your time at camp. Bring a lunch. Snacks provided. With Emma Johnson. Hip-Hop Dance Explosion
I said a hip-hop the hippie the hippie/ to the hip hip hop, a you don’t stop/ the rock it to the bang bang boogie say up jumped the boogie/ to the rhythm of the boogie, the beat/ Now what you hear is not a test—but this class truly is the best! The Sugar Hill Gang may be Old School, but this class is everything hip-hop: old, new and everything in between! Interested in rhythm and rhyme? Enjoy dance but want to move to something current? In this class you’ll learn all different kinds of dance moves. By the end of the week you’ll be able to dance to anything on the radio—or on your iPod! Ages 7 – 14. The Nutcracker in August? (Are You Nuts?)
You set the scene… Learn how to make scenery for a stage production! You can make anything from dolls to soldiers—or mice, trees, chests, carriages and—of course—nutcrackers! Choose your own materials. Get creative and use something unconventional! Scenery will be used in an actual production of The Nutcracker by the Standing Ovation Dance Studio, to be performed in late 2009. Bring a lunch. Snacks provided. Ages 8 – 14.
